Storia: Rev. 12:1-18

THE WOMAN AND THE DRAGON BEGINS.

“And a great sign was seen in heaven: a woman clothed with the Sun, and the Moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. And she had [a child] in her womb; she cried out, about to give birth, giving birth in pain.

“And another great sign was seen in heaven. Behold, a great rose-colored dragon, having seven heads and ten horns; and seven diadems were on his heads. And his tail drags along [trait] a third part of the stars of heaven; and he threw them to earth. And the dragon stood in the sight of the woman about to bear [the child], so that when she gave birth, he would eat her baby son [natum].

“And she brought forth [genuit] “a man child, who was to shepherd [pasturus] all the nations with an iron rod; and her son was taken up to God and to His Throne. And the woman fled into the desert, where she has a place prepared by God, so that they would feed her for 1290 days.

“And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting with the dragon. And the dragon and his angels had fought. And they did not prevail, nor was their place found in heaven anymore. And he was expelled, the great dragon, the ancient snake [anguis] who is spoken of as the devil and Satan, the one seducing the whole world — he was expelled onto the earth, and his angels were expelled with him.

“And I heard the great voice in heaven saying, “Just now, there was made salvation and virtue and the kingdom of our God. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them day and night in God’s sight, has been shut out; and they conquer him in the Blood of the Lamb, and according to the words of their testimony. And they did not love their souls to death, so that he would still be in heaven.

“”Woe to you, o earth and sea, because the devil descends onto you — having great wrath, knowing he has a short time!”

“And when the dragon should have seen that he had been shut out onto the earth, he persecuted the woman who had given birth to the man child. And two great eagle wings were given to the woman, so that she might fly to her place in the desert, where she would be nursed for a time and times and half a time, away from the face of the serpent. And the serpent threw water after the woman, like a river out of his mouth, so that she would be swept away by the river. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth and absorbed the river that the snake threw out of his mouth.

“And the dragon was angry at the woman, and he went away to make war against her remaining seed, those who keep God’s commandments and hold the testimony of Jesus Christ. And he stood upon the sand of the sea.” (Rev. 12:1-18, VL)
